It became his main axe thereafter, perhaps most famously fueling his blues-tinged guitar work with Whitesnake from 1978-1982. Eric Clapton, Paul Kossoff, and Andy Fraser are the likely suspects, but as Bernie says, players didn't pay much attention to those things back then. Their main interest in a guitar was its playability and tone.
